These sponsons are a first of its kind. JCRACING incorporated the rear sponson that includes a backing plate base sponson for added stability at high speeds with a mid sponson for unbeatable grip throughout the corner. This sponson is the best of both worlds; stable, yet will turn on a dime when needed. Best of all, these sponsons can be configured to be race legal per the IJSBA rulebook. These sponsons will provide both the average recreational rider and the world class professional the confidence they are seeking to push this new 1500 to its limits while creating the desired comfortable and predictable ride.
The design of these sponsons started with a 3D scan of the hull to ensure a perfect fit. This design is also the first of its kind by filling the bond flange completely which helps the ski not feel like it is being held down in corners. Our base sponson design creates stability in rough water conditions at high speed by offering a wider “wheel base.”
The rear blades are adjustable up and down, as well as forward and backward, offering 24 different locations to best suite rider preference and ability.
As for rear sponson blade placement, we suggest starting at position 4 from the rear, then go from there. Some people like it all the way back. That will make it turn a bit wider, but it will increase rear grip. Going further forward, the rear blade will act more like a mid sponson and it will turn tighter, changing the pivot point of the ski more towards the center of the boat. In both cases, you will need to adjust your body positioning to compensate and get the most from the move. All the way back, you will ride it with a longer handlepole (if you have an adjustable pole) and be hanging more off the back. As you move it forward, you will change your body positioning to ride it more over the bars. Try it and see what you think. 99% of this is personal preference which varies. That’s why we made them adjustable.
Our integrated mid sponsons were designed after our tried and true #219 mid sponsons which drastically increase rail grip and stability in turns and provide a tighter turning radius.
As always, all of the parts are made in house and in AMERICA, machined from the trusted durability and highest grade billet aluminum alloys. The base sponson, rear blades and mid sponsons are then anodized to prevent corrosion. All hardware provided is marine grade 316 stainless steel.
This kit includes everything you will need to remove those inadequate sponsons you have and bolt these on for instant improvements across the board.
